2008

Well, here is 2008. I hope to spend some more time blogging about my riding and training this year. I've got a few things in my hat for this year, which I hope to make happen.

Last year - well I suppose in summary
, I had a great overall racing season. I finished top 10 in a few early road races last year, came in First at the Lake Hope OMBC Mountain bike race, sport class in my field, one of my overall favorite days on my mountain bike ever. I also did a full, I mean full on season of cyclocross racing, locally and regionally. According to Jen (my favorite beautiful Cheerleader/wife), I raced every weekend from September to December 16 or so. She might be right or close to it. By the time the finals for OVCX came around in Kentucky I was so blown, and over it, I had no interest in making the trip. Overall, I moved up to a "B" in the Cap City Series (with a good standing of like 7th or so) and finished I am pretty sure Top 3 in the "C" class for OVCX. I wanted to get to Nationals, but with weather, money, fitness, excitement all wearing thin, I said the heck with that.

My annual trip to Asheville, North Carolina is going to happen March 19th and it appears it might be 15 riders or so this year. Certainly growing into something pretty cool. Layne and Gary will be returning to help moving things along.
I got the Hampton Inn booked, where Tim and I originally stayed our first year down there....so that is good. Great breakfast there and the location is pretty good, a bit closer to downtown. It's downhill to the parkway this year, but uphill to get back to the hotel. So, it's a wash I suppose.

I found this pic on the web, from a guy that takes pictures at the Iceman.com every year. Not really the 'official' photog of the event, but working it into a money making hobby I think. He's going to find the original file for me and send me the large version of it. Pretty sweet. I actually look like I am going somewhere.

On the mountain bike front, I am committed to racing TWO 100 mile Mountain bike races this summer. Sheesh, what am I thinking? I will return to the Lumberjack 100 and then be heading down to Georgia for the Fools Gold 100. Both part of the NUE MTB Series.

My longtime friend and riding buddy Bob, finally moved away, like many other of my cycling friends. He moved to Texas to help spend more time with a special person in his life and less time flying back and forth.
