Mountain Bike Riding - is blissfull

Well as the pedals turn this year I made a serious attempt in the last few weeks to get on the dirt more and more. I managed to make it out to Mohican a few weeks back for a nice 25 mile loop on a nice Thursday afternoon. I had a case of the "C's" as I like to say - I just didn't C myself going into work on such a nice day :)
It was myself and one other, felt ok, was only the second time on the mountain bike and just didn't have it really. We had hoped to get in more than 4 hours, but after our sub 3 hour ride, we were both pretty blown.
Last Wednesday after work I managed to get up to Alum Phase 2 and get in three laps with Joel and Andy. Andy unfortunatly, out of sheer massive cyclocross leg power pulled the bottom out of his Nike brand shoe, leaving his cleat on the pedal. Twas a bummer for Andy early in his second lap or so. He turned around - Joel and I continued to bang out a solid pace to get our ride on before dark. I felt pretty good actually for the first two, but the back muscles were hurting pretty good, after the previous weekend of workouts and the general lack of ride time on the mountain bike. I was bummed to loose Andy, as I have always wanted to ride MTB with him, but glad to get some time on the knobbies.
I am not a huge fan of the Alum these days, since it seems to turn into more and more of some type of outdoor Rays park and has no real flow. The lines are always interupted by some silly tree or obstacle or something.
My mountain bike is good still, nothing really to complain about, I am digging the disc brakes / wheels from last summer's upgrade. I swear those DT 240's roll way better than my Chris Kings. I have been playing with air in my SID fork and I think I have a setting that will work for Lumberjack this year.
