I got 9th Place out of 33 entrants > not bad considering there was a break of 6 up the road of these guys. It was a great day to race, sun was out and everyone and their mom was racing. The sun brings out all the basement trainers this time of year for sure. Me included. My team mate Mike here (left) that made the break with Anthem and Campus Cycle guy (Mike C.). I think on the third lap, the CAT 1/2 group came around us and we were neutralized to the point where it really killed any chance we had of getting the break back.
I felt great and did ride a smart race. On the last lap, I managed to get the jump on the remainder of our field at just the right point I think. Alex from Dark Horse was listed as beating me though in the sprint finish. I believe the only reason was his computer chip was further down on his fork, close to the front wheel hub than mine: ) Who cares, the pics look great at the finish. I tried to keep my head down as long as possible to stay out of the wind and keep a low profile. Alex obviously saw my jump and sat on my wheel like the pro he is. Jeffrey took some great shots of my crazy sprint finish.
Here's Jen's Pic of the Finish - it's close.
